Dave (41) tragically died while assisting others during Cyclone Gabrielle. He was a volunteer firefighter and was investigating flooding behind a Muriwai house when a large slip engulfed the house and surrounds, he died at the scene. His colleague Craig Stevens (39), also caught in the slip, died 2 days later.
Dave was a man of many talents. He was a highly regarded veterinarian, pilot, kite surfer, wake-boarder and ultra-marathon runner.
He is survived by his wife and two young children.
