Craig (39) tragically died while assisting others during Cyclone Gabrielle. He was a volunteer firefighter and was investigating flooding behind a Muriwai house when a large slip engulfed the house and surrounds. He was seriously injured and died in hospital two days later. His colleague Dave van Zwanenberg (41), died whilst caught in the slip.
Craig was a professional international BMX rider who also loved surfing and mountain biking. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
