Former two-time Olympian, sailor, pilot and prominent businessman Geoff (86) was flying solo from Auckland to Ashburton when his microlight plane crashed at Mount Duppa in the Bryant Range near Nelson. Geoff had learnt to fly four years earlier and was flying to visit relatives in Ashburton, a flight he had completed a number of times before.
