Lalaine tragically died in the devastating Christchurch Earthquake. She was a nurse who had moved to New Zealand in 2008 and worked at a Wellington rest home.

Dear Lalaine,
In the short time that we've worked together, I got to know a lot of you. Your dreams and ambition for you and your family..It's just so tragic that you have to leave us so soon without you seeing the fruits of your hard labour..my only consolation is that you are in a safe place now,comforted by our Heavenly Father..Rest in peace lalaine..I will surely miss you

Dear Lalaine ,

Even though I have been working with you for a couple of years it was only in the last year I was really getting to know you and your cheeky sense of humour we had a lot of jokes and laughs together and thats what I want to remember most about you .
Every time I walk through our hospital wing I expect to see your cheeky grin appear ,I would have loved to have gotten to know you better , hopefully you will be back with your family soon ,my love goes out to them ,

Dear Lalaine, I miss your sweet little face that was almost a permanent fixture at work. You were such a dedicated worker, for reason's we now understand. Such a quiet, reserved girl we were never prepared for you to leave us so soon.
My only wish is that you did not suffer and I am truly sorry that your family could not be with you in your last moments.
You told me you wanted to work Christmas day because it didn't mean anything to you like it would have back home with the whole family. I realised then, how important family was to you.
Rest in peace Lalaine and you will be reunited with your family soon, even though it will be a very sad one.
