Peter (27) tragically deid in a plane crash in the Kaimanawa Ranges. He, and work colleague Zakir Parkar (29), were flying a DA42 twin engine plane from Palmerston North to Auckland's Ardmore Airport and both perished in the crash. The two men worked at the Ardmore Flying School and Peter was a member of the NZALPA Peer Assistance Network. As well as being an experienced flight instructor he was also a former top junior hurdler and high and triple jumper. He competed at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in India and had represented New Zealand at the 2010 Oceania under 20 championships in Cairns winning the 110m hurdles title.
