Bill McNatty, owner of The Francie a fishig charter boat, tragically died along with seven others when his boat capsized in the Kaipara Harbour. The crew had crossed the Kaipara Harbour bar's mountainous seas two days in a row but on its fourth crossing, disaster struck when it capsized in what was reported to be four metre high swells. Those the perished in the tragedy are listed below:

UNGOUNGA, Sunia (43) - Tonga
