Gayle (48) was the mother of Paralympian gold medallist Adam Hall and had just delivered him to the Dunedin Airport when her car left the road. An avid supporter of her sons career, she attended the Winter Olympics in Vancouver to see the champion skier win the downhill slalom ski event in March 2010.
