Kim (85) was a highly regarded wine-maker and philanthropist who died in a tractor accident on his property in Waiheke Island.
In the late 1970’s Kim and his wife Jeanette developed the Island’s first commercial vineyard, Goldwater Estate Winery. By the early 2000’s Goldwater Estate was a world renowned winery, exporting to 27 different countries. In 2011 the couple donated the winery to Auckland University, and it is now used to teach students, and also continues to function as a vineyard and event venue.
