"Mr Rotary" Stuart (100) lived his life to the full. After serving in WW2, then took over a family plumbing business in New Plymouth, became a justice of the peace (JP) for 55 years and also served on the Taranaki Harbours Board for quarter of a century. He was both founder and president of the Toastmaster's Club and held several distinguished titles and honours including being awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal, Commander of the British Empire (CBE), and was a Gold Star member of the RSA. Also to his credit he was a past president of the Justice of the Peace Association and former president of the Eltham Chamber of Commerce. He had served on both the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and Eltham Borough Council (no longer in existance) and in 1995 he was awarded a degree of service to masonry. Known for his sense of humour and commitment to his local community, Stuart embraced all that life had to offer. In his later years he was using the internet and mobile phone, he was also a keen gardener,painter and enjoyed crafting woodwork.
