Ezra (3) tragically drowned in the waters of the Ohinemuri River just 200 metres from his home after he escaped his backyard out an open gate. His parents searched frantically for him and police joined the search. Ezra was a busy wee boy and is described as "on the go" and a "free spirit" and "a real Harry Houdini" and had Autism.
In the greatest act of generousity his parents have agreed to donate some of his organs to give life to other youngsters. His mother Julia said "How selfish would it be of us to . . . not give those strangers' families a chance. We can save two families by donating his heart valves. We could save someone's kids, we can keep their family together. We lost our boy, we can give the gift of life to two other families at least".
