Philip (87) was one of NZ's longest serving newsreaders whose statesman style gave him an air of authority and earnt him the nickname "Mr Credibility". He belonged to a generation of formal newsreaders who delivered the news concisely and without comment. He began his career in 1960 presenting radio in Wellington and, after a stint overseas, started his NZ television career in 1967. His full career can be found on the below link.
He died at home in Papamoa, and is survived by his wife and seven children. RIP Philip.
