Tony was a professional rugby league player and community leader. Throughout his career he represented New Zealand in three World Cups, being selected for the team in 1972. He went on to play 65 games, including captaining the team in the 1977 World Cup. He also coached the West Coast team (1986 -1987) and was made NZ Rugby League "Legends of League" in 2007. In 2011 he became a elected member of the Grey District Council. Tragically he died of a heart attack while mountain biking on the Wilderness Trail near his home. RIP Tony.
