Profile Image

Matthew (28) achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer only to be killed a few short years later while on duty. He had a criminology degree and had worked as a case manager at Auckland Prison before joining the police in 2017 and spending most of his career as a frontline officer at Ōrewa and Helensville. He had only recently moved to the Waitematā Road Policing Team. He an other officers approached a crashed vehicle and were shot at. He died in Auckland Hospital a short time later. It had been more than 10 year since a police officer was killed in the line of duty in NZ and Matthew was the 33rd. RIP Matthew.
