Ben (35) tragically died when the car he was driving crashed into the flooded Waipoua River in the Wairarapa. The three passengers - two women and a man - survived after being lifted off the submerged car's roof by helicopter. Ben was the son of one of New Zealand's longest-serving judges. He is survived by his wife and 5-year-old daughter.
