Arrowtown teenager and talented musician, Jessica (16), was the first person to die on New Zealand roads in 2010. A head-on collision with a Mercedes near Arthurs Point on New Year's Day claimed her life and seriously injured two other teenagers in the vehicle she was a passenger in. Jessica was well regarded as a talented songwriter and performer, having performed at the New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards in Gore with a school friend, as well as at the first Christmas Spectacular in 2007.

every morning in tutor group you would be without a doubt smiling & laughing. your beauty is indescribable & voice is unexplainable. you were so talented, no one can believe this fate for you. but like many people have said, god needed an angel, but so does queenstown :( Jess you were loved by more people than you'd ever imagine. i never saw myself going to your funeral, i saw myself seeing you be this incredible artist that had the most amazing future set out for her. we said out good-byes today, but we'll all see you again someday. you impacted every single person who met you. i wish you knew xx
