Angelo died saving his young childrens lives at Hot Water Beach after they got caught in a rip. The tragedy occured at low tide and at 4pm with only a few people on the beach to help. The children were saved but when the rescuers turned to get Angelo he was underwater, despite frantic efforts to save him he died at the scene. Angelo was a member of Couples for Christ New Zealand.
