Criminal lawyer Sir Peter Williams QC (80) sadly passed away after a eight-year long battle with prostate cancer. As one of New Zealand's most infamous lawyers he represented defendants in high-profile cases, including Arthur Allan Thomas (who was wrongfully-convicted) and the notorious drug trafficker Terry Clark (Mr Asia). He received his knighthood only months prior to his death and will be forever remembered as a relentless campaigner for prisoner rights. He is survived by his partner Lady Henni and his three children.
