Graham (91) was Auckland’s first Police dog handler. He began training with his dog Duke in 1958 and they were the only team operating in the Taupo to Kaitaia area; there were only two other trainers in the country at that time.
He was passionate about the benefits of dogs in policing, educating his fellow officers and courthouse judges on how dogs can assist with crime solving and locating criminals. On his retirement in 1989 he also was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM).
