Influential potter, painter and printmaker, Juliet (93) started her art career in the 1950's with her late husband Roy Cowan, a successful potter in his own right. She was also known as Juliet Peter and highly regarded for her trademark huge pots, Throughout her career she exhibited alongside other great NZ artists such as Toss Woollaston, John Drawbridge and Rita Angus. In 2000 she was made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her contribution to the visual arts. She died in Wellington.
