Peggy (67) was shot down at her workplace, Work and Income NZ, office in Ashburton. Peggy has been described as a "happy, friendly and neat" person who loved her job and was a vital part of her community. The tragedy unfolded whe a client of WINZ entered the building with a shotgun. The incident claimed alos claimed the life of Peggy's fellow colleague Leigh Cleveland (55).

i wish i got to say goodbye it was only 5 days until my birthday and you were coming round but the second ii got told you were shot was the the most saddest day ever ii dropped to my knees i cant believe you gone you always gave me special treats when me and mum came into the winz office love you xo

It is with great sadness to hear of Peggys untimely death

I have knowen Peggy for the last 15 years through Winz she was my case worker for a number of years [Invalids Benefit] she was always a very kind freindly and helpful.
