Believed to be the longest married couple in New Zealand Winifred, and her husband Albert, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in July 2009. Originally from the United Kingdown the couple marired at the Holy Trinity Church, Wealdstone, Middlesex, on July 28, 1934 and moved to New Zealand in 1951. Winifred said in a 2008 interview that the couple had always worked together, looked after each other and enjoyed their family. She died at the Totara Lodge Rest Home in Oamaru and is survived by Alfred.
