Fay (85) along with her husband will be forever remembered for saving the kumrara in NZ from black rot when they gifted their disease resistent strain to the nation. Both Fay and her husband were child refugees from the then war-torn China and married in 1956 and started thier business which went on to become the largest market garden in Mangere. Fay sadly died peacefully from a sudden illness yet, at the age of 85, she was still driving the tractor and looking after her market garden.
