A fatal shark attack at Muriwai Beach tragically took Adam's life. He was a well known filmmaker and resident of Muriwai, Auckland. The attack happened several hundred metres from shore while he was swimming alone from Maori Bay to Muriwai Beach at 1.30pm. A four metre shark, thought to be a great white, and another where shot at by lifeguards as they went to retrieve Adam. Tragically the rescue was too late. Adam has been described as a ‘‘glorious and great father, husband and friend’’ and also had a background in painting, photography and graphic design.
