Lecretia Anne Seales

Wellington lawyer Lecretia (43) did not get her dying wish. She fought a four year battle with terminal brain cancer and wanted to die at a time of her own choosing without her medical carer being held legally responsible for assisting her. However, just hours prior to her death due to natural consequences of her illness, the New Zealand High Court ruled she wasn't allowed help to die. Lucretia's efforts to legalise euthanasia have ignited the death-with-dignity debate and she will forever be remembered for her brave and very public fight for it. She is survived by her husband.
