Bill (84) was a NZ athletics legend and arguably one of the most versatile distance runners. He was one of Arthur Lydiard's protege, alongside Peter Snell, Murray Halberg and others, and sadly died on Christmnas Day. He died peacefully in his sleep while holidaying with family at Cooks Beach in the Coromandel.
