Auckland's deadly tornado tragically claimed Benedict's life when it lifted him from the building site he was working on and threw him into a concrete wall. Benedict (37) had be working for Fletcher Building and was part of a construction team that was demolishing an old shop building in Albany. He was the only person to die in the tornado although many others were injured.
