Peter (55) decided to walk home intoxicated but on his journey stepped out in front of a taxi and was hit. The accident occured at 3am on State Highway 73, near Springfield. His death is described a "cruel irony" as had Peter chosen to call a taxi instead of walking the dark rural road, he would not have died. The taxi van was on its way to pick up a group from a dance party.
