Young mother Natalie (34) lost her battle with terminal breast cancer but her bravery in the face of it tugged at the heart strings of the nation. Although diagnosed with breast cancer a day before her son was born (July 2009) it was early in December when she was told she would be lucky to have two months to live. Concerned for the impact the costs the funeral would have on her husband and two year old son's financial predicament she shared her story with the NZ Herald newspaper. The story, which told of her courage and determination to make each and every day count, sparked a massive outpouring of support.
