Gisborne teenager William (17) was diving for crayfish at Turihaua Beach when he lost his life. He was with friends and had paddled out to a dinghy around 800 metres from the seashore before preparing to dive for seafood with one other. He was underwater for around 20 minutes before he was found. All attempts to revive him failed.
